Frequently Asked Questions
What is an IBCLC?
An IBCLC is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. We are the gold standard in lactation support, education, and providing of breastfeeding care in any setting.
What happens at a consult?
When I come into your home, I will do a pre/post feed weight on the baby, perform a comprehensive oral assessment, evaluate the baby’s mouth, tongue placement, and suck. I spend about an hour and a half to two hours working with you and your baby while sitting through an entire nursing session. We’ll review nursing positions, different holds, and the importance of an effective latch. We will work together on your individualized lactation care plan that you can immediately implement at home.
Does insurance cover your services?
I accept most BCBS PPO, CIGNA PPO, AND ANTHEM PPO plans. Please submit this brief form for The Lactation Network (TLN) to check your coverage.
TLN will respond with a determination of coverage within 90 minutes. If approved, you’re eligible for up to 6 visits (in-home and/or virtual) at NO COST TO YOU! Self pay clients will receive a Superbill (medical receipt) to submit to their insurance for reimbursement. Please select the "Book Now" button below to schedule your appointment!
For Self-Pay, at the end of the consult I will provide you with a superbill (medical receipt) that may be eligible for insurance reimbursement. If you need more information on your rights under the affordable care act, please visit the National Women’s Law Center (nwlc.org) for helpful (and free) resources and scripts to use while communicating with your insurance provider. Or call them at 1-866-745-5487 for further assistance. I encourage you to contact member services directly through your insurance.
